JONATHAN FOO SIGNED UP BY THE PHILADELPHIANS AS A WILD CARD FOR MINOR LEAGUE CRICKET 2022
The Philadelphians Cricket franchise is excited to announce Guyanese star Jonathan Foo as our “Wild Card” player signing for the Minor League Cricket 2022 season.
Jonathan Alexander Foo is a bowling all rounder from Guyana who has represented West Indies A with an impressive batting average of 36.70. Jonathan Foo burst into the global cricketing scene during the inaugural Carribean Premier League T20 competition and his reputation has only grown ever since.
One of his celebrated performances in professional cricket would be the crucial 17-ball-42 when he helped Guyana cross the line against Barbados in thriller of a final. An explosive batsman whose all round repertoire includes his off-spin skills, Foo has proven to be a crucial asset during the middle overs both with the bat as well as the ball.
Being a part of The Philadelphians setup in the Minor League Cricket 2021 season, Foo gave the franchise much needed impetus during the middle overs amassing 25 sixes with 2 half centuries at an outstanding average of 58.14 going on to be rated as one of the top all rounders in the competition. His ability to find boundaries towards the death overs helped the team post competitive totals cushioning our bowlers with a lot more runs to defend and in the process putting the opposition under pressure right at the start of the innings. Foo’s unbeaten 86 off 45 deliveries against DC Hawks when The Philadelphians were neck deep in trouble at 31/4 would go down as one of the best innings in MiLC for the sheer grit and tenacity he displayed on the field eventually getting the team over the line in a nail-biting last over finish.
Amongst a handful of players to amass a huge fan following in the inaugural edition of Minor League Cricket last year, Foo’s love for the City of Philadelphia has not gone unnoticed among his team mates with his penchant to explore the city and outskirts.
Wild Card Player Signing - Jonathan Foo
“It’s a great pleasure to be returning to the Philadelphians, alongside a wonderful group of people who both challenged and inspired me. With a positive mindset, I look forward to a potentially successful season.” says Jonathan Foo.
“It would be difficult to imagine Philly’s playing combination without Jonathan Foo being in the mix. Very few players in the circuit can read the game as well as he can. We are thrilled to have him back in the camp as our Wild Card player. I’m confident he will pack more punches to his performances this season. Best wishes to him”, says Mr. Santhosh Kandasamy, Founding Partner – The Philadelphians Cricket LLC.
